ULB - TouchC 12 in action

The first TouchC 12 for Inloc SA, which carried out the installation in a ULB auditorium on the Solbosch campus

Inloc SA recently completed the integration of its first RMG TouchC 12 and RIO4 module in an auditorium on the Solbosch campus of the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). The aim of this project was to modernize the control of audiovisual equipment and simplify its management for teachers and technicians.

Installation presentation

  1. Main Controller – RMG TouchC 12:

    • The RMG TouchC 12 , with its customizable touch interface, was installed to centralize all audience controls. The touchscreen allows for easy management of various equipment, such as lighting, motorized screens and audiovisual devices.

  2. RIO4 module for physical control:

    • The RIO4 , equipped with 4 relays and 4 Digital I/O, has been integrated to control elements requiring physical controls, such as the Somfy electric screen as well as the opening of the micro drawer locked by electromagnet.

    • The relays were configured to:

      • Relay 1: Manage the power supply to the electromagnet.

      • Relay 2: Lowering of the electric screen.

      • Relay 3: Raising the electric screen.

  3. Connected equipment:

    • Projector (Epson): Manage switching on, off and source selection in case of change

    • PTZ Camera (Aver PTC310UV2): Controlled to capture and broadcast lessons.

    • Podcast Recorder (Extron SMP352): Controlled to send teacher, lesson and room information as well as enable recording.

    • USB Bridge (Vaddio AVBridge 2X1) : Allows you to take the stream from the camera and microphones and provide it to the PC with the video conferencing software.

    • Qu-Pac Audio System and Crown Amplifier: Drives microphones and speakers for a high-quality sound experience.

    • Somfy motorized screen: Managed via RIO4.

    • Video Scaler (Extron IN1804DO): It takes care of choosing the source to display on the projector with the right resolution as well as sending the image copy to the recorder to have both sources (Camera and Content)

    • Computers and connectivity (HDMI, USB-C): Allows easy connection of speakers' devices.

  4. Network and infrastructure:

    • The system is integrated into the dedicated VLAN for the audiovisual network (AV VLAN) , ensuring stable and secure network performance.

    • POE equipment, such as the switch and peripherals, is powered directly via the network to simplify cabling.

The advantages of this solution

  1. Simplification of management:

    • The RMG TouchC 12 's touchscreen interface allows teachers to easily manage equipment without requiring technical assistance.

    • Predefined scenarios, such as "Start of class" or "End of session", automate several actions with a single click (screen, projector, etc.).

  2. Reliable physical management with RIO4:

    • The RIO4 ensures precise and reliable control of physical equipment, such as the motorized electric screen.

  3. Full interoperability:

    • The RMG solution allows you to manage equipment from various brands and technologies (HDBaseT, digital audio, Somfy, etc.) via a centralized control point.

  4. Scalability:

    • This facility can be easily updated or expanded to incorporate new equipment or features in the future.

    • A future development announced is the integration of KNX into this environment.

With this first integration into the Solbosch campus, Inloc SA has demonstrated the RMG system's ability to modernize audiovisual infrastructure while simplifying its management. This project marks the beginning of a promising collaboration between RMG, Inloc SA and ULB to equip other rooms and auditoriums on campus.
